Lawsuits Among Believers
6:1Does any of you, having a case against another, dare to seek judgment before the unrighteous and not before the saints?
6:2Or do you not know that the saints will judge the world? And if the world is judged by you, are you unworthy of the smallest cases?
6:3Do you not know that we will judge angels, to say nothing of matters of ordinary life?
6:4If, then, you have cases concerning ordinary life, do you seat as judges those held in no regard in the Church?
6:5I say this to your shame. Is there really no wise person among you who will be able to decide his brother’s case,
6:6but brother goes to court against brother, and that before unbelievers?
6:7Indeed, it is already altogether a defeat for you that you have lawsuits with one another. Why not instead be wronged? Why not instead be defrauded?
6:8But you yourselves do wrong and defraud—and do this to brothers.
Do You Not Know That the Unrighteous
6:9Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit God’s kingdom? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate men, nor men who bed males,
6:10nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor the abusive, nor the grasping will inherit God’s kingdom.
6:11And some of you were these things. But you washed yourselves clean, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and in the Spirit of our God.
The Body Is for the Lord
6:12All things are permitted to me, but not all things are beneficial. All things are permitted to me, but I will not be brought under the authority of anything.
6:13Foods are for the stomach, and the stomach for foods, but God will bring both it and them to an end. Yet the body is not for sexual immorality but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body.
6:14God both raised the Lord and will raise us through His power.
6:15Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I, then, take Christ’s members and make them members of a prostitute? May it never be!
6:16Or do you not know that the one who joins himself to a prostitute is one body with her? For He says, “The two will become one flesh.”
6:17But the one who joins himself to the Lord is one spirit with Him.
Glorify God in Your Body
6:18Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body.
6:19Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? And you are not your own,
6:20for you were bought at a price. Therefore glorify God in your body.
