The Index of Headings

On the division pages, a heading carrying a rule beneath it shares its wording with at least one other place in the Bible — sometimes because the text itself repeats, as in the seven letters of Revelation or the woes of Matthew 23, sometimes not. Psalms, Proverbs, Song of Songs and the Shepherd of Hermas carry no section headings, because in each the book’s own division is already the unit; what is listed for them is the entendre line that heads every chapter, with the Greek superscription beneath each psalm.
