VII. Glory
Glory contains Revelation, book 70 of this edition and part of the received twenty-seven-book New Testament. The Shepherd of Hermas is preserved separately in the Scholarly Companion.
Repentance, perseverance, and the hope of creation made new.
What this division is
Glory contains Revelation. It unveils the victory of the Lamb, the defeat of evil, and the promised new creation in which God dwells with His people.
Why seven divisions?
Saints Translation groups its seventy books into seven connected movements: Law establishes the covenant foundations; Judgement confronts sin and suffering; Wisdom forms the heart; Providence follows God’s preserving purpose; Salvation proclaims Christ’s redeeming work; Discipleship describes life in Him; and Glory looks toward its fulfilment. Seven recalls the completion and holy rest of the creation week (Genesis 2:1–3). This is the reading arrangement used in this edition. Its divisions help us follow one unfolding story while attending to the distinct voice of each book.
Glory completes the sevenfold journey by setting the life of faith within its final hope. The earlier divisions lead us through covenant, testing, formation, promise, redemption, and discipleship; this division looks toward the fulfilment of that journey in the presence of God. Revelation remains the collection’s final book.
Christ and His saved people
Revelation places Christ, the victorious Lamb, at the centre of this hope. His people’s future rests in His triumph and in the life God gives through Him.
His saved people are called to persevere in love and holiness while awaiting the completion of God’s work. Their hope is the healing of life in God’s presence: evil overcome, death brought to an end, tears wiped away, and communion with Him made complete. That future gives purpose to faithfulness and mercy today.
