Timothy Came Back with Good News of Your Faith

Timothy Sent

3:1Therefore, when we could bear it no longer, we were pleased to be left alone in Athens,

3:2and sent Timothy, our brother and God’s fellow worker in the gospel of Christ, to strengthen you and encourage you concerning your faith,

3:3so that no one would be shaken by these afflictions. For you yourselves know that we are appointed to this.

3:4For even when we were with you, we told you beforehand that we were going to suffer affliction, just as it also happened, as you know.

3:5For this reason, when I too could bear it no longer, I sent to learn of your faith, lest somehow the tempter had tempted you and our labor should become empty.

Timothy’s Good Report

3:6But now Timothy has come to us from you and brought us good news of your faith and love, and that you always have a good remembrance of us, longing to see us just as we also long to see you.

3:7For this reason, brothers, in all our distress and affliction we have been comforted about you through your faith,

3:8because now we live, if you stand firm in the Lord.

3:9For what thanksgiving can we return to God for you, for all the joy with which we rejoice because of you before our God,

3:10as night and day we pray most earnestly to see your face and supply what is lacking in your faith?

Prayer for the Thessalonians

3:11Now may our God and Father Himself, and our Lord Jesus, direct our way to you.

3:12And may the Lord make you increase and overflow in love for one another and for all, just as we also do for you,

3:13so as to establish your hearts blameless in holiness before our God and Father at the coming of our Lord Jesus with all His saints.
