A Living Sacrifice

12:1Therefore I urge you, brothers, through God’s mercies, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God, your rational worship.

12:2And do not be conformed to this age, but be transformed by the renewal of the mind, so that you may discern what God’s will is: the good and pleasing and perfect.

One Body, Many Members

12:3For through the grace given me I say to everyone among you not to think more highly than one ought to think, but to think with sound judgment, as God apportioned to each a measure of faith.

12:4For as we have many members in one body, and the members do not all perform the same action,

12:5so we, the many, are one body in Christ, and each one is a member of the others.

12:6And since we have gifts differing according to the grace given to us: if prophecy, let it be according to the proportion of faith;

12:7if service, in serving; if one teaches, in teaching;

12:8if one exhorts, in exhortation; the one who shares, with generosity; the one who leads, with diligence; the one who shows mercy, with cheerfulness.

Love Without Hypocrisy

12:9Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil; cling to what is good.

12:10In brotherly love be tenderly devoted to one another; in honor take the lead toward one another;

12:11in diligence do not be lazy; be fervent in spirit; serve the Lord;

12:12rejoice in hope; persevere in affliction; persist in prayer;

12:13share in the needs of the saints; pursue hospitality.

Overcome Evil with Good

12:14Bless those who persecute; bless, and do not curse.

12:15Rejoice with those rejoicing; weep with those weeping.

12:16Have the same mind toward one another. Do not set your minds on lofty things, but associate with the lowly. Do not become wise in your own eyes.

12:17Repay no one evil for evil. Take thought for what is honorable before all people.

12:18If possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with all people.

12:19Do not avenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to wrath; for it is written, “Vengeance is Mine; I will repay, says the Lord.”

12:20But if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him drink; for by doing this you will heap coals of fire upon his head.

12:21Do not be conquered by evil, but conquer evil with good.
