Nothing Can Separate Us from the Love of God

No Condemnation in Christ Jesus
8:1So then, there is now no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus.
8:2For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus set you free from the law of sin and death.
8:3For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God did: sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and concerning sin, He condemned sin in the flesh,
8:4so that the law’s righteous requirement might be fulfilled in us who walk not according to flesh, but according to Spirit.
8:5For those who are according to flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those according to Spirit, on the things of the Spirit.
8:6For the mind of the flesh is death, but the mind of the Spirit is life and peace,
8:7because the mind of the flesh is hostility toward God; for it does not submit to God’s law, nor indeed can it.
8:8And those who are in flesh cannot please God.
8:9But you are not in flesh, but in Spirit, if indeed God’s Spirit dwells in you. But if anyone does not have Christ’s Spirit, this person is not His.
8:10But if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.
8:11And if the Spirit of the One who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, the One who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of His Spirit dwelling in you.
Children and Heirs of God
8:12So then, brothers, we are debtors—not to the flesh, to live according to flesh;
8:13for if you live according to flesh, you are going to die; but if by Spirit you put to death the body’s practices, you will live.
8:14For all who are led by God’s Spirit are sons of God.
8:15For you did not receive a spirit of slavery again for fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption as sons, in whom we cry, “Abba, Father.”
8:16The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are God’s children.
8:17And if children, then also heirs: heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him so that we may also be glorified with Him.
The Glory to Be Revealed
8:18For I reckon that the sufferings of the present time are not worthy of comparison with the glory that is to be revealed in us.
8:19For creation’s eager expectation awaits the revealing of God’s sons;
8:20for creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of the One who subjected it, in hope
8:21that creation itself also will be set free from slavery to corruption into the freedom of the glory of God’s children.
8:22For we know that the whole creation groans together and labors in birth pangs together until now;
8:23and not only creation, but we ourselves also, having the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan within ourselves, awaiting adoption as sons, the redemption of our body.
8:24For in hope we were saved. But hope that is seen is not hope; for who hopes for what he sees?
8:25But if we hope for what we do not see, we await it with perseverance.
The Spirit Helps Our Weakness
8:26And likewise the Spirit also helps our weakness; for we do not know what we should pray as we ought, but the Spirit Himself intercedes with unutterable groanings.
8:27And the One who searches hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because He intercedes for saints according to God.
8:28And we know that all things work together for good for those who love God, those who are called according to purpose.
8:29Because those whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, so that He might be firstborn among many brothers;
8:30and those whom He predestined, these He also called; and those whom He called, these He also justified; and those whom He justified, these He also glorified.
God Is for Us
8:31What, then, shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who is against us?
8:32He who did not spare His own Son, but handed Him over for us all, how will He not also graciously give us all things with Him?
8:33Who will bring a charge against God’s chosen ones? God is the One who justifies.
8:34Who is the one who condemns? Christ is the One who died—more than that, was raised—who is also at God’s right hand, who also intercedes for us.
Nothing Can Separate Us
8:35Who will separate us from Christ’s love? Affliction, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword?
8:36Just as it is written, “For Your sake we are put to death all day long; we were reckoned as sheep for slaughter.”
8:37But in all these things we more than conquer through the One who loved us.
8:38For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor rulers, neither things present nor things to come nor powers,
8:39neither height nor depth nor any other created thing will be able to separate us from God’s love in Christ Jesus our Lord.
