Mandate 10.2.1“Hear, then, you who lack understanding,” he says, “how sorrow wears away the holy spirit and yet again saves.

Mandate 10.2.2“When a double-minded person undertakes some action and fails in it because of his double-mindedness, this sorrow enters the person, grieves the holy spirit, and wears it away.

Mandate 10.2.3“Then again, when a quick temper attaches itself to a person over some matter and he becomes very bitter, sorrow again enters the heart of the person who became quick-tempered. He grieves over the deed he did and repents because he did evil.

Mandate 10.2.4“This sorrow, then, appears to bring salvation, because the one who did evil repented. Both actions, therefore, grieve the spirit: double-mindedness, because it did not succeed in its action, and a quick temper grieves the spirit because it did evil. Both, therefore, are grievous to the holy spirit: double-mindedness and a quick temper.

Mandate 10.2.5“Remove sorrow from yourself, then, and do not afflict the holy spirit dwelling in you, lest it petition God and depart from you.

Mandate 10.2.6“For the spirit of God given to this flesh does not endure sorrow or confinement.
