Similitude 8.5.1Next, those who had possessed green rods with splits handed them over. All these handed over green rods and stood in their own group. The shepherd rejoiced over them, because all had changed and put away their splits.
Similitude 8.5.2Those whose rods were half green and half dry also handed them over. Some rods were found completely green, some half-dried, some dry and eaten, and some green with shoots. All these were sent away, each to his own group.
Similitude 8.5.3Next, those whose rods had been two parts green and the third dry handed them over. Many handed over green rods, many half-dried ones, and others dry and eaten ones. All these stood in their own group.

Similitude 8.5.5Those whose rods had been green with a very small dry part and splits handed them over. Some handed over green rods, and some green rods with shoots. These too went to their own group.
Similitude 8.5.6Next, those whose rods had only a very small green part, with the remaining parts dry, handed them over. Most of these rods were found green with shoots and fruit on the shoots; others were entirely green. The shepherd rejoiced exceedingly over these rods because they were found like this. These people went away, each to his own group.
