The Divisions of the Sons of Aaron
24:1The sons of Aaron had divisions. Aaron’s sons were Nadab, Abioud, Eleazar, and Ithamar.
24:2Nadab and Abioud died before their father and had no sons. Eleazar and Ithamar, Aaron’s sons, served as priests.
24:3David, Sadok from Eleazar’s sons, and Achimelech from Ithamar’s sons divided them according to their inspection, according to their ministry, according to their ancestral houses.
24:4Eleazar’s sons were found to have more rulers of the mighty men than Ithamar’s sons. He divided them: sixteen rulers of ancestral houses for Eleazar’s sons, and eight according to ancestral houses for Ithamar’s sons.
24:5He divided them by lots, these alongside those, because there were rulers of the holy things and rulers of the Lord among Eleazar’s sons and among Ithamar’s sons.
24:6Samaias son of Nathanael, the secretary from Levi, recorded them before the king and the rulers, with Sadok the priest, Achimelech son of Abiathar, and the ancestral rulers of the priests and Levites: one ancestral house at a time for Eleazar and one at a time for Ithamar.
The Twenty-Four Lots
24:7The first lot came out for Jarib, the second for Ideia,
24:8the third for Charem, the fourth for Seorim,
24:9the fifth for Melchia, the sixth for Miamin,
24:10the seventh for Kos, the eighth for Abia,
24:11the ninth for Jesus, the tenth for Sechenia,
24:12the eleventh for Eliasib, the twelfth for Jakim,
24:13the thirteenth for Ochchopha, the fourteenth for Isbaal,
24:14the fifteenth for Belga, the sixteenth for Emmer,
24:15the seventeenth for Chezir, the eighteenth for Aphesse,
24:16the nineteenth for Phetaia, the twentieth for Ezekiel,
24:17the twenty-first for Jachin, the twenty-second for Gamoul,
24:18the twenty-third for Dalaia, the twenty-fourth for Maasai.
24:19This was their inspection according to their ministry, to enter the Lord’s house according to their ordinance through Aaron their father, as the Lord, the God of Israel, had commanded.
The Remaining Sons of Levi
24:20As for the remaining sons of Levi: of Ambram’s sons, Soubael; of Soubael’s sons, Jadia.
24:21For Raabia: Jesias the ruler.
24:22Of the Issari, Salomoth; of Salomoth’s sons, Jath.
24:23The sons of Jediou: Amadia the second, Jaziel the third, Jokom the fourth.
24:24Oziel’s sons: Micha; Micha’s sons: Samer.
24:25Micha’s brother: Isia; Isia’s sons: Zacharia.
24:26Merari’s sons: Mooli and Mousi; Ozia’s sons; Bonni’s sons.
24:27Merari’s sons belonging to Ozia, his sons: Isoam, Zakchour, and Abdi.
24:28Of Mooli: Eleazar and Ithamar. Eleazar died and had no sons.
24:29As for Kis: Kis’s sons, Iramael.
24:30Mousi’s sons: Mooli, Eder, and Jarimoth. These were the sons of the Levites according to their ancestral houses.
24:31They too received lots as did their brothers, Aaron’s sons, before the king, Sadok, Achimelech, and the ancestral rulers of the priests and Levites: ancestral heads, araab, as his younger brothers.
