Rehoboam Reigns over Judah

14:21Rehoboam son of Solomon reigned over Judah. Rehoboam was forty-one years old when he became king, and he reigned seventeen years in Jerusalem, the city the Lord chose from all Israel’s tribes to place His name there. His mother’s name was Naamah the Ammonite.

14:22Rehoboam did evil before the Lord and provoked Him to jealousy with all his fathers had done and with their sins which they committed,

14:23and they built for themselves high places, standing stones, and groves on every high hill and under every shady tree.

14:24There was also a conspiracy in the land. They practiced things from all the abominations of the nations the Lord had removed before the sons of Israel.

Shishak Takes the Treasures

14:25In the fifth year of Rehoboam’s reign, Shishak king of Egypt went up against Jerusalem.

14:26He took all the treasures of the Lord’s house and the king’s house, and the golden spears David had taken from the hands of the servants of Hadadezer king of Zobah and brought to Jerusalem. He took everything—the golden shields.

14:27King Rehoboam made bronze shields in their place. The leaders of the runners who guarded the gateway of the king’s house placed them on him.

14:28Whenever the king entered the Lord’s house, the runners took the shields up and deposited them in the runners’ chamber.

The End of Rehoboam’s Reign

14:29The rest of Rehoboam’s acts and all he did—look, are these not written in the Book of the Annals of the Kings of Judah?

14:30There was war between Rehoboam and Jeroboam continually.

14:31Rehoboam slept with his fathers and was buried with his fathers in the City of David. Abiou his son reigned in his place.
