The Officials of Solomon

4:1King Solomon reigned over Israel.

4:2These were his officials: Azariah son of Zadok;

4:3Elihoreph and Ahijah son of Saba were scribes; Jehoshaphat son of Ahilud was recorder;

4:4Zadok and Abiathar were priests;

4:5Ornia son of Nathan was over the appointed officers; Zabud son of Nathan was the king’s companion;

4:6Achiel was household steward; Eliab son of Saph was over the clan; Adoniram son of Ephra was over the tributes.

The Twelve Appointed Officers

4:7Solomon had twelve appointed officers over all Israel to provide for the king and his household. Each was responsible for providing one month in the year.

4:8These were their names: Benor, in Ephraim’s hill country—one;

4:9the son of Rechab, in Machemas, Bethalamin, Beth-shemesh, and Ailon as far as Beth-hanan—one;

4:10the son of Esoth, in Berbethnema, Lousamencha, and Rhesphara;

4:11Chinanadab and Anaphathi, husband of Tableth; a daughter of Solomon was his wife—one;

4:12Baccha son of Ahilud, over Taanach, Megiddo, and all the house of San beside Sesathan below Esrae, and from Baisaphoud, Abel-meholah, as far as Maeber Loukam—one;

4:13the son of Geber, in Remath-gilead; Eregaba’s district in Bashan belonged to his charge, sixty great walled cities with bronze bars—one;

4:14Ahinadab son of Achel, in Mahanaim—one;

4:15Ahimaaz, in Naphtali; he too took Solomon’s daughter Basemath as a wife—one;

4:16Baana son of Hushai, in Maalath—one;

4:17Shammah son of Elah, in Benjamin;

4:18Geber son of Adai, in Gad’s land, the land of Sihon king of Heshbon and Og king of Bashan; and one officer in Judah’s land;

4:19Jehoshaphat son of Phouasoud, in Issachar.
