Jotham King of Judah

27:1Jotham was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Jerousa daughter of Sadok.

27:2He did what was right before the Lord, according to everything his father Uzziah had done, except that he did not enter the Lord’s sanctuary. But the people were still becoming corrupt.

27:3He built the Upper Gate of the Lord’s house and did much building on the wall of Ophla.

27:4He built cities in Judah’s hill country and in the wooded areas, and also dwellings and towers.

The War Against the Sons of Ammon

27:5He fought the king of the sons of Ammon and prevailed over him. The sons of Ammon gave him yearly one hundred talents of silver, ten thousand kors of wheat, and ten thousand of barley. The king of Ammon brought him these each year, in the first, second, and third years.

27:6Jotham grew strong because he prepared his ways before the Lord his God.

27:7The rest of Jotham’s acts, his war, and his deeds are written in the Book of the Kings of Judah and Israel.

27:9Jotham fell asleep with his fathers and was buried in David’s city. His son Ahaz reigned in his place.
