Generation of Mankind
5:1This is the book of the origin of human beings. On the day God made Adam, He made him according to the image of God.
5:2Male and female He made them, and He blessed them and called their name Adam, on the day He made them.
5:3Adam lived two hundred and thirty years and begat a son according to his form and image, and named him Seth.
5:4Adam’s days after he begat Seth were seven hundred years, and he begat sons and daughters.
5:5All the days Adam lived were nine hundred and thirty years, and he died.
5:6Seth lived two hundred and five years and begat Enosh.
5:7Seth lived seven hundred and seven years after he begat Enosh, and begat sons and daughters.
5:8All the days of Seth were nine hundred and twelve years, and he died.
5:9Enosh lived one hundred and ninety years and begat Kenan.
5:10Enosh lived seven hundred and fifteen years after he begat Kenan, and begat sons and daughters.
5:11All the days of Enosh were nine hundred and five years, and he died.
5:12Kenan lived one hundred and seventy years and begat Mahalalel.
5:13Kenan lived seven hundred and forty years after he begat Mahalalel, and begat sons and daughters.
5:14All the days of Kenan were nine hundred and ten years, and he died.
5:15Mahalalel lived one hundred and sixty-five years and begat Jared.
5:16Mahalalel lived seven hundred and thirty years after he begat Jared, and begat sons and daughters.
5:17All the days of Mahalalel were eight hundred and ninety-five years, and he died.
5:18Jared lived one hundred and sixty-two years and begat Enoch.
5:19Jared lived eight hundred years after he begat Enoch, and begat sons and daughters.
5:20All the days of Jared were nine hundred and sixty-two years, and he died.
The Account of Enoch
5:21Enoch lived one hundred and sixty-five years and begat Methuselah.
5:22Enoch pleased God for two hundred years after he begat Methuselah, and begat sons and daughters.
5:23All the days of Enoch were three hundred and sixty-five years.
5:24Enoch pleased God, and he was not found, because God transferred him.
Genealogy of Methuselah
5:25Methuselah lived one hundred and sixty-seven years and begat Lamech.
5:26Methuselah lived eight hundred and two years after he begat Lamech, and begat sons and daughters.
5:27All the days Methuselah lived were nine hundred and sixty-nine years, and he died.
5:28Lamech lived one hundred and eighty-eight years and begat a son,
5:29and named him Noah, saying, “This one will give us rest from our works, from the pains of our hands, and from the earth that the Lord God has cursed.”
5:30Lamech lived five hundred and sixty-five years after he begat Noah, and begat sons and daughters.
5:31All the days of Lamech were seven hundred and fifty-three years, and he died.
5:32Noah was five hundred years old, and Noah begat three sons: Shem, Ham, and Japheth.
