I Will Take Out the Heart of Stone and Give a Heart of Flesh

The Twenty-Five Men at the Gate

11:1A spirit lifted me and brought me to the opposite gate of the Lord’s house, facing east. And behold, at the gate entrance were about twenty-five men. Among them I saw Jaazaniah son of Ezer and Pelatiah son of Benaiah, leaders of the people.

11:2The Lord said to me, “Son of man, these are the men who devise vain things and counsel wicked counsel in this city,

11:3who say, ‘Have the houses not been built recently? She is the cauldron, and we are the meat.’

11:4Therefore prophesy against them; prophesy, son of man.”

This City Is Not Your Cauldron

11:5The Lord’s spirit fell upon me, and He said to me, “Say, ‘Thus says the Lord: You have said this, house of Israel, and I understand the deliberations of your spirit.

11:6You have multiplied your dead in this city and filled her roads with the wounded.

11:7Therefore thus says the Lord: Your dead whom you struck within her are the meat, and she is the cauldron; but I will bring you out of her.

11:8You fear the sword, and I will bring a sword upon you, says the Lord.

11:9I will bring you out of her midst, hand you into foreigners’ hands, and execute judgments among you.

11:10You will fall by the sword. At Israel’s borders I will judge you, and you will recognize that I am the Lord.

11:11She will not be a cauldron for you, and you certainly will not become meat within her. At Israel’s borders I will judge you,

11:12and you will recognize that I am the Lord.’”

The Death of Pelatiah

11:13As I prophesied, Pelatiah son of Benaiah died. I fall upon my face and cried aloud with a loud voice and said, “Alas, alas, Lord! You are bringing Israel’s survivors to a complete end!”

Those Scattered Among the Nations

11:14The Lord’s word came to me, saying,

11:15“Son of man, your brothers and the men of your captivity and the whole house of Israel have been brought to an end. To them Jerusalem’s inhabitants said, ‘Keep far from the Lord; the land has been given to us as an inheritance.’

11:16Therefore say, ‘Thus says the Lord: I will thrust them away into the nations and scatter them through all the earth, and I will be a little sanctuary for them in the countries where they may enter.’

11:17Therefore say, ‘Thus says the Lord: I will receive them from the nations and gather them from the countries where I scattered them, and I will give them the land of Israel.

11:18They will enter there and remove all her abominations and all her lawlessness from her.

I Will Give Them Another Heart

11:19I will give them another heart and put a new spirit within them. I will tear the stone heart from their flesh and give them a heart of flesh,

11:20so that they may walk in My commands, keep My ordinances and carry them out. They will be My people, and I will be their God.

11:21As their heart went toward the heart of their abominations and their lawlessness, I have brought their ways upon their heads, says the Lord.’”

The Glory Rises from the City

11:22The cherubim raised their wings, with the wheels beside them, and the glory of the God of Israel was upon them, above them.

11:23The Lord’s glory rose from the midst of the city and stood upon the mountain opposite the city.

11:24A spirit lifted me and brought me into the Chaldeans’ land, to the captivity, in a vision by God’s spirit. I rose out of the vision I had seen,

11:25and I spoke to the captivity all the Lord’s words that He had shown me.
