The Vinewood

15:1The Lord’s word came to me, saying,

15:2“And you, son of man, what could vinewood be among all the branch wood found among the forest trees?

15:3Will they take wood from it to make anything for work? Will they take a peg from it to hang any vessel upon it?

15:4It has only been given to fire for consumption. Fire consumes its yearly prunings, and it is utterly spent. Surely it will not be useful for work?

15:5Even while it was whole, it would not serve for work. Let alone if fire utterly consumes it—will it still serve for work?

15:6Therefore say, ‘Thus says the Lord: As with the vinewood among the forest trees, which I have given to fire for consumption, so I have given Jerusalem’s inhabitants.

15:7I will set My face against them. They will come out of the fire, and fire will devour them. They will recognize that I am the Lord when I set My face firmly against them.

15:8I will make the land a devastation, because they have fallen into transgression, says the Lord.’”
