The Glory Returns by the East Gate

43:1He led me to the gate facing east and brought me out.

43:2Look—the glory of the God of Israel was coming by the way of the gate facing east. The sound of the camp was like the sound of many redoubling their sound, and the earth flashed like radiance from the glory all around.

43:3The vision I saw was like the vision I had seen when I was entering to anoint the city; and the vision of the chariot I saw was like the vision I had seen by the River Chobar. I fall on my face.

43:4The glory of the Lord entered the house by the way of the gate facing east.

43:5A spirit lifted me and brought me into the inner court. Look—the house was full of the glory of the Lord.

43:6I stood, and look—a voice from the house, speaking to me, while the man stood next to me.

43:7He said to me, “Have you seen, son of man, the place of My throne and the place of the footprints of My feet, where My name shall dwell among the house of Israel forever? The house of Israel shall no longer profane My holy name, neither they nor their rulers, by their prostitution and by the murders of the rulers among them—

43:8—when they set My vestibule among their vestibules and My doorposts next to their doorposts, and placed My wall as adjoining Me and them. They profaned My holy name by the lawless deeds they practiced, and I wiped them out in My wrath and in slaughter.

43:9Now let them drive their prostitution and the murders of their rulers away from Me, and I shall dwell among them forever.

43:10You, son of man, show the house to the house of Israel, and they shall cease from their sins. Show its appearance and its arrangement—

43:11—and they shall receive their punishment for everything they have done. You shall draw the house, its exits, and its structure; make known to them all its commands and all its ordinances, and draw them before them. They shall keep all My judgments and all My commands and carry them out,

43:12together with the drawing of the house on the mountain’s summit: all its boundaries all around are most holy.

43:13These are the altar’s measurements in a cubit consisting of a cubit and a handbreadth: a hollow one cubit deep and one cubit wide, with a ledge along its edge all around of a span. This was the altar’s height:

43:14from the depth at the beginning of its hollow to the large lower place of atonement, two cubits, with a breadth of a cubit; and from the small place of atonement to the large place of atonement, four cubits, with a breadth of a cubit.

43:15The Ariel was four cubits, and from the Ariel upward above the horns was a cubit.

43:16The Ariel was twelve cubits long by twelve cubits wide, square on its four sides.

43:17The place of atonement was fourteen cubits long by fourteen cubits wide on its four sides. Its surrounding ledge ran all around it at half a cubit, and its surrounding band was a cubit all around. Its steps faced east.

The Ordinances of the Altar

43:18He said to me, “Son of man, thus says the Lord, the God of Israel: These are the altar’s commands on the day it is made, for offering burnt offerings on it and pouring blood against it.

43:19You shall give the Levitical priests who are of Zadok’s offspring and draw near to Me to minister to Me, says the Lord God, a calf from the cattle as an offering for sin.

43:20They shall take some of its blood and put it on the altar’s four horns, on the four corners of the place of atonement, and on the base all around. They shall make atonement for it.

43:21They shall take the calf for the sin offering, and it shall be burned in the separated area of the house, outside the holy places.

43:22On the second day they shall take two unblemished goat kids for sin, and they shall make atonement for the altar as they made atonement with the calf.

43:23After you have completed the atonement, they shall bring an unblemished calf from the cattle and an unblemished ram from the sheep.

43:24You all shall bring them before the Lord, and the priests shall throw salt upon them and offer them as burnt offerings to the Lord.

43:25For seven days you shall prepare a kid for sin each day, and a calf from the cattle and a ram from the sheep. They shall prepare unblemished animals—

43:26—for seven days. They shall make atonement for the altar and cleanse it, and they shall fill their hands.

43:27From the eighth day onward, the priests shall offer your burnt offerings and your offerings for well-being on the altar. I shall accept you, says the Lord.”
