Out of Egypt I Summoned His Children

11:1Because Israel was an infant, I loved him, and out of Egypt I summoned his children.

11:2As I summoned them, so they departed from My presence; they sacrificed to the Baalim and burned incense to carved images.

11:3I bound Ephraim’s feet together; I took him up on My arm, but they did not know that I healed them.

11:4Amid human destruction I stretched them out in bonds of My love. I will be to them like a man slapping his cheeks; I will look toward him and be able to act for him.

Ephraim Refuses to Return

11:5Ephraim dwelt in Egypt, and Assur himself was his king, because he did not wish to return.

11:6A sword grew weak in his cities and ceased in his hands, and they will eat from their schemes.

11:7His people hang suspended from his dwelling, and God will be angry at his precious things and will certainly not exalt him.

How Shall I Deal with You, Ephraim?

11:8How shall I deal with you, Ephraim? Shall I shield you, Israel? How shall I deal with you? Shall I make you like Adama and like Seboim? My heart turned within itself; My change of mind was stirred together.

11:9I will certainly not act according to My furious anger; I will certainly not abandon Ephraim to be erased. For I am God and not a human being, holy within you, and I will not enter a city.

11:10I will walk after the Lord. He will roar like a lion, because He Himself will howl, and children of waters will be astonished.

11:11They will be astonished like a bird from Egypt and like a dove from the Assyrians’ land, and I will restore them to their houses, says the Lord.
