How Beautiful Are the Feet of Him Who Brings Good News

Awake, Awake, Zion

52:1Awake, awake, Zion! Clothe yourself with your strength, Zion, and put on your glory, Jerusalem, holy city. No uncircumcised and unclean person will pass through you again.

52:2Shake off the dust and rise; sit, Jerusalem. Strip off your neck’s bond, captive daughter Zion.

52:3For thus says the Lord: “You were sold for nothing, and without silver you will be ransomed.”

My People Formerly Went Down to Egypt

52:4Thus says the Lord: “My people formerly went down to Egypt to live there as strangers, and they were forcibly led to the Assyrians.

52:5And now, why are you here?” Thus says the Lord. “My people were taken for nothing. Be amazed and wail!” Thus says the Lord. “Because of you, My name is continually blasphemed among the nations.

52:6Therefore My people will know My name on that day, because I am the One speaking. I am present

52:7like beauty on the mountains, like the feet of one proclaiming a report of peace, like one bringing good news. For I will make your salvation heard, saying, ‘Zion, your God will reign.’”

52:8For the voice of those guarding you was raised, and together they will rejoice with their voice. For eyes will see eye to eye when the Lord has mercy on Zion.

Let Jerusalem’s Deserted Places Break Out in Joy

52:9Let Jerusalem’s deserted places break out in joy together, for the Lord had mercy on her and rescued Jerusalem.

52:10The Lord will uncover His holy arm before all nations, and all the ends of earth will see the salvation that comes from God.

52:11Depart, depart; go out from there, and do not touch anything unclean. Go out from her midst; separate yourselves, you who carry the Lord’s vessels.

52:12For you will not go out in turmoil or travel in flight, because the Lord will go ahead of you, and the One gathering you is the Lord, Israel’s God.

My Servant Will Understand and Be Exalted

52:13Look, My servant will understand and be exalted and greatly glorified.

52:14Just as many will be astonished at you—so your appearance will lose honor among people, and your glory among human beings—

52:15so many nations will marvel at him, and kings will shut their mouths. For those who were not told about him will see, and those who have not heard will understand.
