The Eighth Vision: The Four Chariots

6:1I turned and lifted my eyes and saw: look, four chariots coming out from between two mountains! The mountains were bronze mountains.

6:2The first chariot had flame-red horses, and the second chariot black horses,

6:3the third chariot white horses, and the fourth chariot dappled, gray horses.

6:4I answered and said to the angel speaking within me, “What are these, lord?”

6:5The angel speaking within me answered, “These are the four winds of heaven; they go out to stand beside the Lord of all the earth.

6:6The one with the black horses was going out toward the northern land; the white ones were going out behind them, and the dappled ones were going out toward the southern land,

6:7and the gray ones were going out and looking to go and travel around the earth.” He said, “Go and travel around the earth!” And they traveled around the earth.

6:8He cried out and said to me, “Look, those going out toward the northern land have brought My wrath to rest in the northern land.”

The Crowns for Joshua

6:9The word of the Lord came to me, saying:

6:10“Take the things from the captivity, from its rulers, from its useful people and from those who have known it; you shall go that day into the house of Josiah son of Zephaniah, who has come from Babylon,

6:11take silver and gold, make crowns and put them on the head of Joshua son of Josedek, the high priest,

The Man Who Will Build the Lord’s House

6:12and say to him: Thus says the Lord Almighty: Look, a man whose name is Rising! From beneath him he will rise, and he will build the Lord’s house.

6:13He himself will receive excellence, sit and rule on his throne; the priest will be at his right hand, and peaceful counsel will be between both.

6:14The crown will be for those who endure, for its useful people and those who have known it, for the favor of Zephaniah’s son and for a psalm in the Lord’s house.

6:15Those far away from them will come and build in the Lord’s house, and you will know that the Lord Almighty sent me to you. This will happen if you truly listen to the voice of the Lord your God.”
