Stumbling Blocks and Forgiveness
17:1And He said to His disciples, “It is impossible for stumbling blocks not to come, but woe to the one through whom they come!
17:2It would be better for him to have a millstone placed around his neck and be thrown into the sea than to cause one of these little ones to stumble.
17:3Watch yourselves. If your brother sins, rebuke him; and if he repents, forgive him.
17:4And if he sins against you seven times in the day and turns back to you seven times, saying, ‘I repent,’ you shall forgive him.”
Faith Like a Mustard Seed
17:5And the apostles said to the Lord, “Add to our faith.”
17:6And the Lord said, “If you have faith like a mustard seed, you would say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be uprooted and planted in the sea,’ and it would obey you.
Unworthy Slaves
17:7Which of you, having a slave plowing or tending sheep, will say to him when he comes in from the field, ‘Come at once and recline at table’?
17:8Will he not instead say to him, ‘Prepare something for my supper, gird yourself, and serve me while I eat and drink; and after that you shall eat and drink’?
17:9Does he thank the slave because he did what was commanded?
17:10So you also, when you have done everything commanded you, say, ‘We are unprofitable slaves; we have done what we ought to have done.’”
Ten Lepers Cleansed
17:11And it happened that, as He was traveling to Jerusalem, He passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee.
17:12As He entered a certain village, ten men with leprosy met Him. They stood at a distance
17:13and raised their voices, saying, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!”
17:14When He saw them, He said to them, “Go and show yourselves to the priests.” And it happened that as they went, they were cleansed.
17:15One of them, seeing that he had been healed, returned, glorifying God with a loud voice.
17:16And he fell on his face at His feet, giving Him thanks; and he was a Samaritan.
17:17Jesus answered, “Were not the ten cleansed? But where are the nine?
17:18Were none found returning to give glory to God except this foreigner?”
17:19And He said to him, “Rise and go; your faith has saved you.”
The Coming of the Kingdom
17:20When the Pharisees asked Him when the kingdom of God was coming, He answered them, “The kingdom of God does not come with observation,
17:21nor will they say, ‘Behold, here!’ or ‘There!’ For behold, the kingdom of God is within you.”
The Days of the Son of Man
17:22And He said to the disciples, “Days will come when you will long to see one of the days of the Son of Man, and you will not see it.
17:23And they will say to you, ‘Behold, there!’ ‘Behold, here!’ Do not go away or pursue them.
17:24For just as lightning flashes and shines from one region under heaven to another under heaven, so will the Son of Man be in His day.
17:25But first He must suffer many things and be rejected by this generation.
17:26And just as it happened in the days of Noah, so it will also be in the days of the Son of Man.
17:27They were eating, drinking, marrying, and being given in marriage, until the day Noah entered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all.
17:28Likewise, just as it happened in the days of Lot: they were eating, drinking, buying, selling, planting, and building;
17:29but on the day Lot went out from Sodom, fire and sulfur rained from heaven and destroyed them all.
17:30It will be the same on the day the Son of Man is revealed.
17:31On that day, whoever is on the housetop, with his belongings in the house, must not go down to take them; likewise, whoever is in the field must not turn back.
17:32Remember Lot’s wife.
17:33Whoever seeks to preserve his life will lose it, but whoever loses it will keep it alive.
17:34I tell you, on that night two will be on one bed: one will be taken and the other left.
17:35Two women will be grinding together: one will be taken and the other left.”
17:37And they answered Him, “Where, Lord?” He said to them, “Where the body is, there the eagles will also gather.”
