As they traveled on the road, a scribe came and said, “Teacher, I will follow You wherever You go.” Jesus answered, “Foxes have dens and the birds of the sky have dwelling places, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head.” He said to another of His disciples, “Follow Me.” The man answered, “Lord, permit me first to go and bury my father.” Jesus said, “Follow Me, and let the dead bury their own dead; but you go and proclaim God’s kingdom.”

Another also said, “I will follow You, Lord; but first permit me to say farewell to those in my house.” Jesus said, “No one who puts his hand to a plow and looks backward is fit for God’s kingdom.”
