And He traveled through cities and villages, teaching and making His journey toward Jerusalem. Someone said to Him, “Lord, are those who are being saved few?” And He said to them, “Strive to enter through the narrow door, because many, I tell you, will seek to enter and will not be able, once the master of the house rises and shuts the door. Then you will begin to stand outside and knock at the door, saying, ‘Lord, open to us!’ And he will answer you, ‘I do not know you or where you come from.’ Then you will begin to say, ‘We ate and drank in your presence, and you taught in our streets.’ And he will say to you, ‘I do not know where you come from. Depart from me, all you workers of unrighteousness!’ There will be weeping and grinding of teeth there, when you see Abraham and Isaac and Jacob and all the prophets in the kingdom of God, but yourselves being thrown outside. And people will come from east and west and from north and south and recline at table in the kingdom of God.

“And behold, there are last who will be first, and there are first who will be last.” At that very hour some Pharisees approached and said to Him, “Leave and go away from here, because Herod wants to kill You.” And He said to them, “Go and tell that fox, ‘Behold, I drive out demons and accomplish healings today and tomorrow, and on the third day I am brought to completion.’ Nevertheless, I must travel today and tomorrow and the day following, because it is not possible for a prophet to perish outside Jerusalem. Jerusalem, Jerusalem, who kills the prophets and stones those sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children as a bird gathers her own brood under her wings, and you were not willing! Behold, your house is left to you. And I tell you, you will certainly not see Me until the time comes when you say, ‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!’”
