Greek Psalm 140
Let My Prayer Rise Before You Like Incense
← Greek Psalm 139 · Psalms: all chapters · Greek Psalm 141 →
140:1A psalm for David.
Lord, I have cried to You; hear me.
Attend to the voice of my petition when I cry to You.
140:2Let my prayer be directed as incense before You,
the lifting of my hands as an evening sacrifice.
140:3Set a guard, Lord, for my mouth
and a restraining door around my lips.
140:4Do not turn my heart toward words of wickedness,
to offer excuses for sins with people who practice lawlessness,
and I will certainly not join with their chosen ones.
140:5A righteous man will discipline me in mercy and correct me,
but let a sinner’s oil not enrich my head,
for still my prayer is amid their good pleasures.
140:6Their judges were swallowed up beside a rock;
they will hear my words, for they became sweet.
140:7Like a clod of earth broken upon the earth,
our bones were scattered beside Hades.
140:8For my eyes are toward You, Lord, Lord;
in You I hoped—do not take away my soul.
140:9Guard me from the trap they assembled for me
and from the stumbling blocks of those practicing lawlessness.
140:10Sinners will fall into his casting net;
I am alone until I pass by.
