Greek Psalm 37

ChaplainPenitent sorrow

Greek Psalm 37

My Friends and Neighbours Stood Far Off

nor discipline me in Your anger.

and You pressed Your hand upon me.

there is no peace for my bones because of my sins.

like a heavy load they weighed upon me.

because of my foolishness.

all day long I walked about downcast.

and there is no healing in my flesh.

I roared from the groaning of my heart.

and my groaning was not hidden from You.

and the light of my eyes—even that is not with me.

and those nearest me stood far away.

those seeking evils for me spoke vain things

and meditated on deceptions all day long.

like one unable to speak who does not open his mouth.

and has no rebukes in his mouth.

You will hear, Lord my God.

When my feet were shaken, they boasted against me.

and my pain is continually before me.

and be concerned about my sin.

and those hating me unjustly have multiplied.

because I pursued righteousness,

and they cast me, the beloved, away like an abhorred corpse.

my God, do not depart from me.

Lord of my salvation.
