Greek Psalm 49

If I Were Hungry, I Would Not Tell You

49:1A psalm of Asaph.

The God of gods, the Lord, spoke and summoned the earth

from the sun’s risings to its settings.

49:2From Zion comes the splendor of His beauty;

God will come manifestly,

49:3our God, and He will not keep silent;

fire will burn before Him,

and around Him is a mighty tempest.

49:4He will summon heaven above

and the earth, to judge His people.

49:5Gather His holy ones to Him,

those who establish His covenant over sacrifices.

49:6The heavens will announce His righteousness,

for God is judge. Diapsalma.

49:7“Hear, My people, and I will speak to you;

Israel, I testify to you.

I am God, your God.

49:8I will not rebuke you concerning your sacrifices;

your burnt offerings are continually before Me.

49:9I will not receive calves from your house

or young goats from your flocks.

49:10For all the forest’s wild animals are Mine,

beasts on the mountains and cattle.

49:11I know all the birds of heaven,

and the field’s beauty is with Me.

49:12If I become hungry, I will certainly not tell you,

for the inhabited world and its fullness are Mine.

49:13Will I eat bulls’ flesh

or drink goats’ blood?

49:14Sacrifice a sacrifice of praise to God

and pay your vows to the Most High.

49:15Call on Me in the day of affliction;

I will rescue you, and you will glorify Me.” Diapsalma.

49:16But to the sinner God said,

“Why do you recount My decrees

and take up My covenant through your mouth?

49:17But you hated instruction

and cast My words behind you.

49:18If you saw a thief, you ran along with him,

and you placed your portion with adulterers.

49:19Your mouth multiplied wickedness,

and your tongue wove deception.

49:20Sitting, you spoke against your brother,

and against your mother’s son you placed a stumbling block.

49:21These things you did, and I kept silent;

you conceived the lawless thought that I would be like you.

I will rebuke you and set it before your face.

49:22Understand these things, you who forget God,

lest He seize you and there be no rescuer.

49:23A sacrifice of praise will glorify Me,

and there is a way by which I will show him God’s salvation.”
