Do Not Rebuke Me in Your Anger

6:1For the end, among hymns, concerning the eighth. A psalm of David.

6:2Lord, do not rebuke me in Your fury,

nor discipline me in Your anger.

6:3Have mercy on me, Lord, for I am weak;

heal me, Lord, for my bones were troubled,

6:4and my soul was greatly troubled.

And You, Lord—how long?

6:5Return, Lord; rescue my soul.

Save me for the sake of Your mercy.

6:6For in death there is no one who remembers You;

and in Hades, who will give You thanks?

6:7I grew weary with my groaning;

every night I will bathe my bed,

with my tears I will wet my resting place.

6:8My eye was troubled from anger;

I grew old among all my enemies.

6:9Stand away from me, all who work lawlessness,

for the Lord heard the voice of my weeping.

6:10The Lord heard my petition;

the Lord accepted my prayer.

6:11May all my enemies be ashamed and greatly troubled;

may they turn back and be greatly put to shame quickly.
