The Acceptable Time and Faithful Service
6:1And working together, we also urge you not to receive the grace of God in vain.
6:2For He says, “At an acceptable time I heard you, and on a day of salvation I helped you.” Look, now is a most acceptable time; look, now is a day of salvation.
6:3We give no occasion for stumbling in anything, so that the ministry may not be blamed,
6:4but in everything commend ourselves as ministers of God: in much endurance, in afflictions, in necessities, in distresses,
6:5in beatings, in imprisonments, in disturbances, in labors, in sleepless nights, in fastings,
6:6in purity, in knowledge, in patience, in kindness, in the Holy Spirit, in love without hypocrisy,
6:7in a word of truth, in the power of God; through the weapons of righteousness for the right hand and the left,
6:8through glory and dishonor, through bad report and good report; as deceivers, and yet truthful;
6:9as unknown, and yet recognized; as dying, and look, we live; as disciplined, and yet not put to death;
6:10as sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; as poor, yet enriching many; as having nothing, and yet possessing everything.
Open Hearts
6:11Our mouth has opened to you, Corinthians; our heart has been enlarged.
6:12You are not confined in us, but you are confined in your own affections.
6:13Now in the same return—I speak as to children—be enlarged yourselves also.
The Temple of the Living God
6:14Do not become unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what sharing is there between righteousness and lawlessness, or what fellowship between light and darkness?
6:15And what harmony is there between Christ and Beliar, or what portion does a believer have with an unbeliever?
6:16And what agreement is there between God’s temple and idols? For we are the temple of the living God, just as God said: “I will dwell in them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they will be My people.
6:17Therefore come out from their midst and be separated, says the Lord, and do not touch anything unclean; and I will receive you.
6:18And I will be a Father to you, and you will be sons and daughters to Me, says the Lord Almighty.”
