He Made Him Who Knew No Sin to Be Sin for Us

The Dwelling from Heaven
5:1For we know that if our earthly tent-house is dismantled, we have a building from God, a house not made by hands, eternal in the heavens.
5:2For indeed in this we groan, longing to put on over ourselves our dwelling from heaven,
5:3if indeed, having put it on, we shall not be found naked.
5:4For indeed we who are in the tent groan, being burdened, because we do not wish to be unclothed but to be clothed over, so that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life.
5:5Now the One who prepared us for this very thing is God, who gave us the pledge of the Spirit.
5:6Therefore, always being confident, and knowing that while at home in the body we are away from the Lord—
5:7for we walk through faith, not through sight—
5:8we are confident, and prefer rather to be away from the body and at home with the Lord.
5:9Therefore we also make it our aim, whether at home or away, to be pleasing to Him.
5:10For we must all be manifested before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each may receive back what was done through the body, according to what he practiced, whether good or evil.
The Ministry of Reconciliation
5:11Therefore, knowing the fear of the Lord, we persuade people; but we have been made manifest to God, and I hope we have also been made manifest in your consciences.
5:12We are not commending ourselves to you again, but giving you an opportunity to boast on our behalf, so that you may have an answer for those who boast in appearance and not in heart.
5:13For if we were beside ourselves, it was for God; if we are in our right mind, it is for you.
5:14For the love of Christ holds us fast, since we have judged this: that One died for all; therefore all died.
5:15And He died for all so that those who live might no longer live for themselves, but for the One who died and was raised on their behalf.
5:16So from now on we know no one according to the flesh. Even if we have known Christ according to the flesh, yet now we no longer know Him in that way.
5:17So if anyone is in Christ, there is a new creation. The old things passed away; look, new things have come to be.
5:18And all things are from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation:
5:19namely, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and placing in us the word of reconciliation.
5:20Therefore we serve as ambassadors on behalf of Christ, as God appeals through us. We beg on behalf of Christ: be reconciled to God.
5:21The One who did not know sin, He made sin on our behalf, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God.
