If Anyone Preaches Another Gospel, Let Him Be Accursed

Paul, an Apostle, Not from Men

1:1Paul, an apostle, not from human beings nor through a human being, but through Jesus Christ and God the Father, who raised Him from the dead,

1:2and all the brothers with me, to the Churches of Galatia:

1:3grace to you and peace from God the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ,

1:4who gave Himself for our sins, to rescue us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father,

1:5to whom be the glory for the ages of ages. Amen.

I Am Astonished That You Are Turning Away

1:6I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the One who called you in the grace of Christ for a different gospel,

1:7which is not another gospel, except that there are some who trouble you and want to distort the gospel of Christ.

1:8But even if we or an angel from heaven should proclaim to you a gospel contrary to what we proclaimed to you, let him be accursed.

1:9As we have said before, so now I say again: if anyone proclaims to you a gospel contrary to what you received, let him be accursed.

1:10For am I now seeking the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I seeking to please human beings? If I were still pleasing human beings, I would not be Christ’s slave.

The Gospel Received by Revelation

1:11For I make known to you, brothers, that the gospel proclaimed by me is not of human origin.

1:12For I neither received it from a human being nor was taught it, but received it through a revelation of Jesus Christ.

1:13For you have heard of my former conduct in Judaism, how excessively I persecuted the Church of God and ravaged it,

1:14and I advanced in Judaism beyond many of my own age among my people, being far more zealous for the traditions of my ancestors.

1:15But when the One who set me apart from my mother’s womb and called me through His grace was pleased

1:16to reveal His Son in me, so that I might proclaim Him among the nations, I did not immediately consult flesh and blood,

1:17nor did I go up to Jerusalem to those who were apostles before me, but I went away to Arabia and returned again to Damascus.

Paul’s First Visit to Jerusalem

1:18Then, after three years, I went up to Jerusalem to become acquainted with Cephas, and I stayed with him fifteen days.

1:19But I saw no other of the apostles except James, the Lord’s brother.

1:20Now in what I am writing to you, behold, before God, I am not lying.

1:21Then I went into the regions of Syria and Cilicia.

1:22But I was unknown by face to the Churches of Judea that are in Christ.

1:23They were only hearing, “The one who once persecuted us now proclaims the faith he once ravaged.”

1:24And they glorified God because of me.
