An Open Door No One Can Shut, and a Knock at Another

To the Angel of the Church in Sardis
3:1And to the angel of the Church in Sardis write: These things says the One who has the seven spirits of God and the seven stars: ‘I know your works, that you have a name that you live, and you are dead.
3:2Become watchful, and strengthen the things remaining that were about to die, for I have not found your works fulfilled before My God.
3:3Therefore remember how you have received and heard, and keep it and repent. Therefore if you do not watch, I will come like a thief, and you shall certainly not know at what hour I will come upon you.
3:4But you have a few names in Sardis who did not defile their garments, and they will walk with Me in white, because they are worthy.
3:5The one who conquers will thus be clothed in white garments, and I will certainly not erase his name from the book of life, and I will confess his name before My Father and before His angels.
3:6Let the one who has an ear hear what the Spirit says to the Churches.’
To the Angel of the Church in Philadelphia
3:7And to the angel of the Church in Philadelphia write: These things says the Holy One, the True One, the One who has the key of David, who opens and no one will shut, and shuts and no one opens:
3:8‘I know your works. Look, I have placed before you an opened door, which no one can shut, because you have little strength and kept My word and did not deny My name.
3:9Look, I give some from the synagogue of Satan, those who say that they themselves are Jews and are not, but lie. Look, I will make them come and bow before your feet, and know that I loved you.
3:10Because you kept the word of My endurance, I also will keep you from the hour of trial that is about to come upon the whole inhabited world, to try those dwelling upon the earth.
3:11I am coming quickly. Hold fast what you have, so that no one may take your crown.
3:12The one who conquers, I will make him a pillar in the temple of My God, and he shall certainly go outside no more. And I will write upon him the name of My God and the name of the city of My God, the new Jerusalem, which comes down out of heaven from My God, and My new name.
3:13Let the one who has an ear hear what the Spirit says to the Churches.’
To the Angel of the Church in Laodicea
3:14And to the angel of the Church in Laodicea write: These things says the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of God’s creation:
3:15‘I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were cold or hot.
3:16So because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I am about to vomit you out of My mouth.
3:17Because you say, “I am rich and have become wealthy and need nothing,” and do not know that you are the wretched and pitiable and poor and blind and naked one,
3:18I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined by fire so that you may become rich, and white garments so that you may clothe yourself and the shame of your nakedness may not be manifested, and eye salve to anoint your eyes so that you may see.
3:19As many as I love, I reprove and discipline. Therefore be zealous and repent.
3:20Look, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will enter to him and dine with him, and he with Me.
3:21The one who conquers, I will give him to sit with Me on My throne, as I also conquered and sat with My Father on His throne.
3:22Let the one who has an ear hear what the Spirit says to the Churches.’”
