A Door Opened in Heaven
4:1After these things I saw, and look, a door opened in heaven, and the first voice I heard like a trumpet speaking with me said, “Come up here, and I will show you what must take place.” After these things,
4:2immediately I came to be in the Spirit; and look, a throne was set in heaven, and One sitting upon the throne.
4:3And the One sitting was in appearance like a jasper stone and a sardius, and a rainbow around the throne was in appearance like an emerald.
The Twenty-Four Elders and the Four Living Creatures
4:4And around the throne were twenty-four thrones, and upon the thrones twenty-four elders sitting, clothed in white garments, and upon their heads golden crowns.
4:5And from the throne come out lightnings and voices and thunders; and seven lamps of fire burn before the throne, which are the seven spirits of God.
4:6And before the throne was something like a glassy sea, like crystal. And in the midst of the throne and around the throne were four living creatures, full of eyes in front and behind.
4:7And the first living creature was like a lion, and the second living creature like a calf, and the third living creature had a face like a human being’s, and the fourth living creature was like an eagle flying.
Holy, Holy, Holy
4:8And the four living creatures, each one of them having six wings, are full of eyes around and within; and they have no rest day and night, saying, “Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, the One who was and who is and who is coming.”
4:9And whenever the living creatures give glory and honor and thanksgiving to the One sitting upon the throne, the One living for the ages of the ages,
4:10the twenty-four elders will fall before the One sitting upon the throne, and will worship the One living for the ages of the ages, and will throw their crowns before the throne, saying,
4:11“You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive the glory and the honor and the power, because You created all things, and because of Your will they existed and were created.”
