Bildad: How Can One Born of Woman Be Clean?

The Third Speech of Bildad

25:1Then Bildad the Shuhite replied:

25:2“For what prelude or fear comes from Him,
the One who makes the whole in the highest?

25:3For could anyone suppose that there is a reprieve for raiders?
Upon whom will an ambush from Him not come?

25:4For how will a mortal be righteous before the Lord?
Or who, being born of woman, could cleanse himself?

25:5If He gives the moon a command, it does not shine;
the stars are not pure before Him.

25:6Leave it, then: a human is decay,
and a son of humanity a worm.”
