The Glory Filled It, and Even Moses Could Not Enter

God’s Command
40:1The Lord spoke to Moses, saying,
40:2“On the first day of the first month, at the new moon, you shall erect the Tent of Testimony.”
40:3“You shall place the ark of the testimony and screen the ark with the veil.”
40:4“Bring in the table and set out its presentation. Bring in the lampstand and put its lamps on it.”
40:5“Place the gold altar for burning incense before the ark, and put a screening veil over the doorway of the Tent of Testimony.”
40:6“Place the altar of offerings by the doors of the Tent of Testimony.”
40:8“Set the tent about, and sanctify everything belonging to it all around.”
40:9“Take the anointing oil and anoint the tent and everything in it. Sanctify it and all its utensils, and it shall be holy.”
40:10“Anoint the altar of offerings and all its utensils. Sanctify the altar, and it shall be most holy.”
40:12“Bring Aaron and his sons to the doors of the Tent of Testimony and wash them with water.”
40:13“Clothe Aaron in the holy robes, anoint him, and sanctify him and he shall serve Me as priest.”
40:14“Bring his sons and clothe them in tunics.”
40:15“Anoint them as you anointed their father, and they shall serve Me as priests. They shall have an anointing for priesthood forever, throughout their generations.”
40:16Moses did everything the Lord had commanded him; so he did.
Man’s Obedience
40:17In the first month of the second year after they came out of Egypt, at the new moon, the tent was erected.
40:18Moses erected the tent, placed its capitals, inserted its bars, and erected its pillars.
40:19He spread the curtains over the tent and placed the tent covering above it, as the Lord commanded Moses.
40:20He took the testimonies and put them into the ark, and placed the carrying poles beneath the ark.
40:21He brought the ark into the tent, put up the screening veil, and screened the ark of the testimony, as the Lord commanded Moses.
40:22He placed the table in the Tent of Testimony, on its north side, outside the tent’s veil.
40:23He set the bread of presentation on it before the Lord, as the Lord commanded Moses.
40:24He placed the lampstand in the Tent of Testimony, on the south side of the tent.
40:25He put its lamps in place before the Lord, as the Lord commanded Moses.
40:26He placed the gold altar in the Tent of Testimony opposite the veil,
40:27and burned the compounded incense on it, as the Lord commanded Moses.
40:29He placed the altar of offerings by the doors of the tent.
40:33He erected the court around the tent and the altar. Moses completed all the work.
The Glory of God
40:34The cloud covered the Tent of Testimony, and the tent was filled with the glory of the Lord.
40:35Moses could not enter the Tent of Testimony because the cloud overshadowed it and the tent was filled with the glory of the Lord.
40:36Whenever the cloud rose from the tent, the children of Israel set out with their belongings.
40:37If the cloud did not rise, they did not set out until the day it rose.
40:38For a cloud was over the tent by day, and fire was over it by night, in the sight of all Israel throughout all their journeys.
