The Fall of Gog upon the Mountains of Israel

39:1“And you, son of man, prophesy against Gog and say, ‘Thus says the Lord: Behold, I am against you, Gog, ruler of Rhos, Mosoch and Thobel,

39:2and I will gather you, lead you along, bring you up from the farthest north and bring you upon Israel’s mountains.

39:3I will destroy your bow from your left hand and your arrows from your right hand, and strike you down

39:4upon Israel’s mountains. You and all those around you will fall, and the nations with you will be given to multitudes of birds. I have given you to every flying creature and all the plain’s beasts to be eaten.

39:5Upon the open plain you will fall, for I have spoken, says the Lord.

39:6I will send fire upon Gog, and the islands will be inhabited in peace. They will know that I am the Lord.

39:7My holy name will be known among My people Israel and will no longer be profaned. The nations will know that I am the Lord, holy in Israel.

39:8Behold, it has arrived, and you will know that it will be, says the Lord, the Lord. This is the day on which I spoke.

39:9Those dwelling in Israel’s cities will go out and burn fires with the weapons: small shields, pikes, bows, arrows, hand staffs and spears. They will burn fires with them for seven years.

39:10They certainly will not take wood from the plain or cut it from the woods; they will burn the weapons with fire. They will plunder those who plundered them and strip those who stripped them, says the Lord.

39:11On that day I will give Gog a notable place, a memorial tomb in Israel, the mass grave of those who came against it, beside the sea. They will build around the valley’s mouth and bury Gog and all his multitude there. It will be called Gai, Gog’s Mass Grave.

39:12Israel’s house will bury them over seven months so that the land may be cleansed.

39:13All the land’s people will bury them, and it will bring them renown on the day I was glorified, says the Lord.

39:14They will continually designate men to pass through the land and bury those left upon the land’s surface, to cleanse it after the seven months, and they will search.

39:15Everyone passing through the land who sees a human bone will build a marker beside it until the buriers bury it in Gai, Gog’s Mass Grave.

39:16Indeed, the city’s name will be Mass Grave, and the land will be cleansed.

39:17And you, son of man, say, Thus says the Lord: Say to every flying bird and all the plain’s beasts, Gather and come! Gather from all those around to My sacrifice that I have sacrificed for you, a great sacrifice upon Israel’s mountains. You will eat flesh and drink blood.

39:18You will eat giants’ flesh and drink the blood of the land’s rulers: rams, calves and male goats, and the calves all fattened.

39:19You will eat fat to fullness and drink blood to drunkenness from My sacrifice that I sacrificed for you.

39:20At My table you will be filled with horse and rider, giant and every warrior, says the Lord.

39:21I will set My glory among you, and all the nations will see My judgment that I executed and My hand that I brought upon them.

39:22Israel’s house will know that I am the Lord their God from this day onward.

39:23All the nations will know that Israel’s house was taken captive because of their sins, because they acted faithlessly toward Me. I turned My face from them and handed them into their enemies’ hands, and all fell by the sword.

39:24I dealt with them according to their uncleannesses and lawless acts, and turned My face from them.

Now I Will Reverse the Captivity of Jacob

39:25Therefore thus says the Lord, the Lord: Now I will reverse Jacob’s captivity, show mercy to Israel’s house and be zealous for My holy name.

39:26They will receive their own dishonor and the injustice they committed when they are settled upon their land in peace, and no one will terrify them,

39:27when I bring them back from the nations and gather them from the nations’ countries; I will be sanctified in them before the nations,

39:28and they will know that I am the Lord their God when I appear to them among the nations.

39:29I will no longer turn My face from them, because I poured My wrath upon Israel’s house, says the Lord, the Lord.’”
