The Lame Will Leap and the Desert Will Blossom

Rejoice, Thirsty Wilderness

35:1Rejoice, thirsty wilderness! Let the wilderness exult and flower like a lily,

35:2and the Jordan’s desert places will flower and exult. Lebanon’s glory and Carmel’s honor were given to her, and My people will see the Lord’s glory and God’s height.

35:3Be strong, slack hands and paralyzed knees!

35:4Give encouragement, you fainthearted in mind. Be strong; do not fear! Look, our God repays judgment and will repay; He Himself will come and save us.

Then the Blind Will See

35:5Then blind people’s eyes will open, and deaf people’s ears will hear.

35:6Then the lame person will leap like a deer, and the tongue of those with difficulty speaking will be clear, for water burst out in the wilderness and a ravine in a thirsty land,

35:7the waterless place will become marshes, and a water spring will be in the thirsty land. There will be birds’ gladness, a dwelling of reeds and marshes.

35:8There will be a clean road, called a Holy Way. No unclean person will pass there, nor will there be an unclean way there; the scattered will walk upon it and will certainly not wander.

The Redeemed Return to Zion

35:9No lion will be there, nor will any evil wild beast go up on it or be found there; instead, the redeemed will walk in it.

35:10Those gathered through the Lord will return and come to Zion with gladness, everlasting gladness above their heads; for praise and exultation are upon their heads, and gladness will overtake them. Pain, grief and groaning have fled.
