Concerning Idumea
30:1For Idumea, thus says the Lord: There is no longer wisdom in Teman; counsel perished from the discerning; their wisdom went away.
30:2Their place was deceived. Go deep to dwell, inhabitants of Dedan, for he did difficult things; I brought them upon him at the time I visited him.
30:3For grape gatherers came to you; they will leave you no remnants. Like thieves by night they will lay their hand upon you.
30:4For I dragged Esau away and uncovered their secrets; they certainly cannot hide. They perished by the hand of his brother and his neighbor, and it is not possible
30:5for your orphan to remain so that he may live. And I will live, and widows have trusted in Me.
30:6For thus said the Lord: Those for whom there was no law to drink the cup drank it. And you, though acquitted, certainly will not be acquitted, for you will certainly drink.
30:7For I swore by Myself, says the Lord, that you will become an untrodden place, a reproach, and a curse in her midst, and all her cities will be deserted forever.
30:8I heard a report from the Lord, and He sent messengers to the nations: Gather and come against her; rise for war!
30:9I made you small among nations, easily despised among people.
30:10Your playfulness assailed you; your heart’s insolence destroyed holes in rocks and seized the strength of a high hill. For he raised his nest like an eagle; from there I will bring you down.
30:11Idumea will become an untrodden place; everyone passing by her will hiss.
30:12As Sodom, Gomorrah, and her neighboring places were overturned, said the Lord Almighty, no person will settle there, and no human being will live there.
30:13Like a lion he will come up from Jordan’s midst into Aitham’s place, for I will quickly drive them away from her. Appoint the young men over her. For who is like Me? Who will resist Me, and what shepherd can stand before Me?
30:14Therefore hear the Lord’s counsel that He planned against Idumea and His purpose against Teman’s inhabitants: Surely the smallest sheep will be swept together; surely their dwelling will be made untrodden over her.
30:15For at the sound of their fall the earth shook, and your cry was heard at the sea.
30:16Like an eagle he will look and stretch his wings over her fortifications. That day Idumea’s strong men’s hearts will be like the heart of a woman in labor.
Concerning Ammon’s Sons
30:17For Ammon’s sons, thus said the Lord: Are there no sons in Israel, or have they no one to inherit? Why did Melchom take Gad, and will their people live in their cities?
30:18Therefore days are coming, says the Lord, when I will make the din of wars heard against Rabbath. They will become an untrodden place and a destruction, her altars will be burned with fire, and Israel will receive his rule.
30:19Shout aloud, Heshbon, for Gai perished! Cry out, daughters of Rabbath; put on sackcloth, be seized with distress, and beat yourselves over Melchom, for he will go into deportation, his priests and rulers together.

30:21I am bringing fear upon you, said the Lord, from all your surroundings. You will be scattered, each straight ahead, and there will be no one gathering.
30:23For Kedar, queen of the courtyard, whom Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon struck. Thus said the Lord: Rise and go up against Kedar, and fill the sons of Kedem!
Against the Tents and the Sheep
30:24They will take their tents and sheep, their garments, all their equipment, and camels for themselves. Call destruction against them on every side!
30:25Flee far away; go deep to dwell, you who stay in the courtyard, for Babylon’s king planned counsel against you and devised a purpose against you.
30:26Rise and go up against a stable nation living in refreshment, with neither doors nor pins nor bars; they lodge alone.
30:27Their camels will become plunder and their numerous livestock destruction. I will winnow them to every wind, those shorn before their faces; from every side of them I will bring their rout, said the Lord.
30:28The courtyard will become an abode for ostriches, untrodden forever. No person will settle there; no human being will live there.
30:29For Damascus: Hamath and Arpad were ashamed because they heard an evil report. They were distraught and angry; they certainly cannot rest.
Damascus Falters and Her Walls Burn
30:30Damascus grew feeble and turned to flight; trembling seized her.
30:31How did he not abandon My city? They loved a village.
30:32Therefore young men will fall in your squares, and all your warriors will fall, says the Lord.
30:33I will kindle fire in Damascus’s wall, and it will devour the quarters of Ader’s son.
