The Fourth Vision: Joshua the High Priest

3:1He showed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the Lord, with the slanderer standing at his right hand to oppose him.

3:2The Lord said to the slanderer, “May the Lord rebuke you, slanderer! May the Lord, who chose Jerusalem, rebuke you! Look, is this not like a brand pulled from fire?”

3:3Joshua was clothed in filthy garments and standing before the angel.

3:4He answered and said to those standing before him, “Remove the filthy garments from him.” He said to him, “Look, I have taken away your lawless deeds; clothe him in a robe reaching to the feet,

3:5and put a clean turban on his head.” They clothed him in garments and put a clean turban on his head, while the angel of the Lord stood by.

The Charge to Joshua

3:6The angel of the Lord solemnly testified to Joshua, saying:

3:7“Thus says the Lord Almighty: If you walk in My ways and keep My commands, you will govern My house. If you also guard My court, I will give you those who move about among these standing here.

The Servant Who Is Coming

3:8Listen now, Joshua the high priest, you and your neighbors sitting before you, for they are men who watch for portents. Look, I am bringing My servant, Rising.

3:9For the stone I set before Joshua—on the one stone are seven eyes. Look, I am digging a pit, says the Lord Almighty, and I will feel out all the injustice of that land in one day.

3:10On that day, says the Lord Almighty, each of you will invite his neighbor beneath a vine and beneath a fig tree.”
