Disparate. Text: Both parents pronounce the same death sentence, but Hebrew they pierce him becomes Greek they bind his feet. The different act is preserved without turning the Greek restraint into an unspoken execution.

Disparate. Text: Greek plural shepherds replaces Hebrew singular shepherd, and final shepherds replaces little ones. Hebrew resultant scattering becomes a command to tear away sheep, while companion becomes fellow citizen. These change the targets and agents of the violence. New Testament reception: Jesus cites the shepherd saying in Matthew 26:31 in relation to His disciples’ falling away. Matthew has I will strike, a singular shepherd and resultant scattering; it does not reproduce this Greek source’s plural shepherds and two commands verbatim [NT-MAT26].
