Who Touched Me in the Crowd?

The Women Who Followed Jesus
8:1After this He traveled through cities and villages, proclaiming and announcing the good news of God’s kingdom. The Twelve were with Him,
8:2and certain women who had been healed of evil spirits and illnesses: Mary called Magdalene, from whom seven demons had gone out,
8:3Joanna, wife of Chuza, Herod’s steward, Susanna, and many others, who served them out of their own belongings.
The Parable of the Sower
8:4When a large crowd was gathering and people from each city were coming to Him, He spoke through a parable:
8:5“The sower went out to sow his seed. As he sowed, some fell beside the road, was trampled, and the birds of the sky ate it.
8:6Other seed fell on the rock, and when it sprouted it withered because it had no moisture.
8:7Other seed fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up with it and choked it.
8:8Other seed fell into good soil, sprouted and produced fruit a hundredfold.” As He said these things, He called out, “Let the one who has ears to hear listen.”
His Disciples Asked What This Parable Meant
8:9His disciples asked Him what this parable meant.
8:10He said, “To you it has been given to know the mysteries of God’s kingdom, but to the rest in parables, so that seeing they may not see, and hearing they may not understand.
8:11This is the parable: the seed is God’s word.
8:12Those beside the road are the ones who have heard; then the devil comes and takes the word from their heart, so that they may not believe and be saved.
8:13Those on the rock are the ones who, when they hear, receive the word with joy. They have no root; they believe for a time and fall away in a time of testing.
8:14What fell among thorns represents those who have heard, but as they go along they are choked by life’s cares, wealth and pleasures, and do not bring fruit to maturity.
8:15What is in the good soil represents those who hear the word in a noble and good heart, hold it fast, and bear fruit with endurance.
The Lamp on a Lampstand
8:16No one lights a lamp and covers it with a vessel or puts it under a bed, but places it on a lampstand, so that those entering may see the light.
8:17For nothing is hidden that will not become manifest, nor concealed that will not be known and come into the open.
8:18Therefore watch how you hear. For whoever has will be given more, and whoever does not have will have even what he thinks he has taken from him.”
The Mother and Brothers of Jesus
8:19His mother and brothers came to Him but could not reach Him because of the crowd.
8:20It was reported to Him, “Your mother and Your brothers are standing outside, wanting to see You.”
8:21He answered them, “My mother and My brothers are these who hear God’s word and do it.”
The Storm Stilled
8:22On one of those days He entered a boat with His disciples and said to them, “Let us cross to the other side of the lake.” They put out.
8:23As they sailed, He fell asleep. A windstorm came down upon the lake, and they were being swamped and were in danger.
8:24They came and woke Him, saying, “Master, Master, we are perishing!” He awoke and rebuked the wind and the surging water. They ceased, and there was calm.
8:25He said to them, “Where is your faith?” Afraid, they marveled and said to one another, “Who then is this, that He commands even the winds and the water, and they obey Him?”
The Man with the Legion
8:26They sailed into the country of the Gerasenes, which lies opposite Galilee.
8:27When He stepped onto the land, a man from the city who had demons met Him. For a considerable time he had worn no garment and had not lived in a house, but among the tombs.
8:28Seeing Jesus, he cried out, fell before Him, and said with a loud voice, “What is there between me and You, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I beg You, do not torment me!”
8:29For He was commanding the unclean spirit to leave the man. It had seized him many times; he was bound with chains and shackles and kept under guard, but he broke the bonds and was driven by the demon into deserted places.
8:30Jesus asked him, “What is your name?” He said, “Legion,” because many demons had entered him.
8:31They begged Him not to command them to go away into the abyss.
8:32A herd of many pigs was feeding there on the hillside. They begged Him to permit them to enter those pigs, and He permitted them.
8:33The demons came out of the man and entered the pigs. The herd rushed down the steep bank into the lake and was drowned.
8:34When the herdsmen saw what had happened, they fled and reported it in the city and in the fields.
8:35People came out to see what had happened. They came to Jesus and found the man from whom the demons had gone out sitting at Jesus’ feet, clothed and in his right mind; and they were afraid.
8:36Those who had seen reported to them how the demon-possessed man had been saved.
8:37The whole multitude of the surrounding country of the Gerasenes asked Him to depart from them, because they were gripped by great fear. He entered a boat and returned.
8:38The man from whom the demons had gone out begged to be with Him, but He sent him away, saying,
8:39“Return to your home and recount everything God has done for you.” He went away proclaiming throughout the whole city everything Jesus had done for him.
Jairus Pleads for His Daughter
8:40When Jesus returned, the crowd welcomed Him, for they were all awaiting Him.
8:41And behold, a man named Jairus came, who was a ruler of the synagogue. Falling at Jesus’ feet, he begged Him to enter his house,
8:42because he had an only daughter, about twelve years old, and she was dying. As He went, the crowds pressed closely around Him.
The Woman with the Flow of Blood
8:43A woman had suffered a flow of blood for twelve years. She had spent her whole livelihood on physicians, but could not be healed by anyone.
8:44Coming up behind Him, she touched the fringe of His garment, and immediately her flow of blood stopped.
8:45Jesus said, “Who touched Me?” When everyone denied it, Peter said, “Master, the crowds surround You and press against You.”
8:46Jesus said, “Someone touched Me, for I knew that power had gone out from Me.”
8:47When the woman saw that she had not escaped notice, she came trembling and fell before Him. Before all the people she reported why she had touched Him and how she had been healed immediately.
8:48He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has saved you; go into peace.”
The Daughter of Jairus Raised
8:49While He was still speaking, someone came from the synagogue ruler’s house, saying, “Your daughter has died. Do not trouble the Teacher any longer.”
8:50Jesus heard and answered him, “Do not fear; only believe, and she will be saved.”
8:51When He came to the house, He allowed no one to enter with Him except Peter, John and James, and the child’s father and mother.
8:52Everyone was weeping and beating themselves in mourning for her. He said, “Do not weep, for she has not died, but is sleeping.”
8:53They laughed at Him, knowing that she had died.
8:54But He took her hand and called, “Child, rise.”
8:55Her spirit returned, and she rose immediately. He ordered that she be given something to eat.
8:56Her parents were astonished, but He commanded them to tell no one what had happened.
