While the Pharisees were gathered and Jesus taught in the temple, He asked, “What do you think about the Christ? Whose son is He?” They answered, “David’s.” He said, “How do the scribes say the Christ is David’s son, when David himself, speaking in the Holy Spirit in the book of Psalms, calls Him Lord: ‘The Lord said to my Lord, Sit at My right until I put Your enemies beneath Your feet’? If David calls Him Lord, how is He his son?” No one could answer Him a word, and from that day no one dared question Him further. The great crowd heard Him gladly.
