Abraham begat Isaac; Isaac begat Jacob; Jacob begat Judah and his brothers; Judah begat Perez and Zerah by Tamar; Perez begat Hezron; Hezron begat Ram; Ram begat Amminadab; Amminadab begat Nahshon; Nahshon begat Salmon; Salmon begat Boaz by Rahab; Boaz begat Obed by Ruth; Obed begat Jesse; Jesse begat David the king. David begat Solomon by the wife of Uriah;
Solomon begat Rehoboam; Rehoboam begat Abijah; Abijah begat Asaph; Asaph begat Jehoshaphat; Jehoshaphat begat Joram; Joram begat Uzziah; Uzziah begat Jotham; Jotham begat Ahaz; Ahaz begat Hezekiah; Hezekiah begat Manasseh; Manasseh begat Amos; Amos begat Josiah; Josiah begat Jechoniah and his brothers at the deportation to Babylon.
After the deportation to Babylon, Jechoniah begat Shealtiel; Shealtiel begat Zerubbabel; Zerubbabel begat Abiud; Abiud begat Eliakim; Eliakim begat Azor; Azor begat Zadok; Zadok begat Achim; Achim begat Eliud; Eliud begat Eleazar; Eleazar begat Matthan; Matthan begat Jacob; Jacob begat Joseph, the husband of Mary, from whom Jesus was born, who is called Christ. So all the generations from Abraham to David were fourteen generations, from David to the deportation to Babylon fourteen generations, and from the deportation to Babylon to the Christ fourteen generations.
