Now the Passover of the Jews was near, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. And He found in the temple those selling oxen and sheep and doves, and the money changers seated there. Making a whip from cords, He drove them all out of the temple, both the sheep and the oxen, and poured out the money changers’ coins and overturned their tables. And He said to those selling the doves, “Take these things away from here. Do not make My Father’s house a house of trade.” His disciples remembered that it is written, “Zeal for Your house will consume Me.” So the Jews answered Him, “What sign do You show us, since You do these things?” Jesus answered them, “Destroy this sanctuary, and in three days I will raise it.” So the Jews said, “This sanctuary was built in forty-six years, and will You raise it in three days?” But He was speaking about the sanctuary of His body. When, therefore, He was raised from the dead, His disciples remembered that He had said this, and they believed the Scripture and the word Jesus had spoken.

While He was in Jerusalem at the Passover, during the feast, many believed in His name, seeing the signs He was doing. But Jesus Himself did not entrust Himself to them, because He knew everyone and because He had no need for anyone to testify concerning humanity, for He Himself knew what was within a person.
