They entered Capernaum, a city of Galilee, and on the Sabbath Jesus taught in the synagogue. He continued teaching there on the Sabbaths. They were astonished at His teaching, for His word was with authority, and He taught them as one having authority, not as the scribes. Immediately there was in their synagogue a man with an unclean spirit, and he cried out, “What have we to do with You, Jesus of Nazareth? Have You come to destroy us? I know who You are—the Holy One of God!” Jesus rebuked him, saying, “Be muzzled, and come out of him!”
The unclean spirit threw the man down in their midst, convulsed him, cried out with a loud voice, and came out without harming him. They were all amazed and discussed among themselves, “What is this? A new teaching! With authority and power He commands even the unclean spirits, and they obey Him and come out!” Immediately the report about Him went out everywhere through the whole surrounding region of Galilee.
