113:1Hallelujah.

At Israel’s departure from Egypt,

the house of Jacob from a foreign-speaking people,

113:2Judea became His sanctuary,

Israel His authority.

113:3The sea saw and fled;

the Jordan turned backward.

113:4The mountains skipped like rams,

and the hills like lambs of sheep.

113:5What is it with you, sea, that you fled,

and with you, Jordan, that you withdrew backward?

113:6Mountains, that you skipped like rams,

and hills, like lambs of sheep?

113:7Before the Lord the earth was shaken,

before the God of Jacob,

113:8who turned the rock into pools of water

and the sheer rock into springs of water.

113:9Not to us, Lord, not to us,

but only to Your name give glory,

because of Your mercy and Your truth,

113:10lest the nations say,

“Where is their God?”

113:11But our God is in heaven above;

in the heavens and on the earth

He has done everything He wished.

113:12The idols of the nations are silver and gold,

works of human hands.

113:13They have a mouth and will not speak;

they have eyes and will not see.

113:14They have ears and will not hear;

they have noses and will not smell.

113:15They have hands and will not feel;

feet, and will not walk;

they will not sound with their throat.

113:16May those who make them become like them,

and all who have put their trust in them.

113:17The house of Israel hoped in the Lord;

He is their helper and their defender.

113:18The house of Aaron hoped in the Lord;

He is their helper and their defender.

113:19Those who fear the Lord hoped in the Lord;

He is their helper and their defender.

113:20The Lord remembered us and blessed us;

He blessed the house of Israel;

He blessed the house of Aaron.

113:21He blessed those who fear the Lord,

the small together with the great.

113:22May the Lord add to you,

to you and to your sons.

113:23You are blessed by the Lord,

who made heaven and earth.

113:24The heaven of heaven belongs to the Lord,

but the earth He gave to the sons of human beings.

113:25The dead will not praise You, Lord,

nor any who descend into Hades,

113:26but we, the living, will bless the Lord

from now and forever.
