I Rejoiced When They Said, Let Us Go to the House of the Lord

121:1A song of the ascents.

I rejoiced over those who said to me,

“We will go to the Lord’s house.”

121:2Our feet were standing

in your courts, Jerusalem.

121:3Jerusalem, being built as a city

whose common sharing is together,

121:4for there the tribes went up,

the tribes of the Lord—a testimony for Israel—

to give thanks to the Lord’s name.

121:5For there thrones sat for judgment,

thrones over David’s house.

121:6Ask, then, for the things that bring Jerusalem peace,

and prosperity for those who love you.

121:7May there be peace within your strength,

and prosperity within your fortified towers.

121:8For the sake of my brothers and neighbors,

I was speaking peace concerning you.

121:9For the sake of the house of the Lord our God,

I sought good things for you.
