I Lay Down and Slept, and Rose Again

3:1A psalm of David, when he was fleeing from the presence of Absalom his son.

3:2Lord, why have those who afflict me multiplied?

Many rise up against me.

3:3Many say to my soul,

“There is no salvation for him in his God.”

3:4But You, Lord, are my helper,

my glory and the One who lifts my head.

3:5With my voice I cried to the Lord,

and He heard me from His holy mountain.

3:6I lay down and slept;

I was awakened, for the Lord will help me.

3:7I will not fear tens of thousands of people

who together attack me all around.

3:8Rise, Lord! Save me, my God!

For You struck all who were my enemies without cause;

You crushed sinners’ teeth.

3:9Salvation belongs to the Lord,

and Your blessing is upon Your people.
