We Went Through Fire and Water, and You Brought Us Out

65:1For the end. A song of a psalm. Of resurrection.

Raise a shout to God, all the earth!

65:2Make music, then, to His name;

give glory to His praise.

65:3Say to God, “How fearsome are Your works!

Through the abundance of Your power,

Your enemies will lie to You.

65:4Let all the earth bow to You and make music to You;

let them make music to Your name.” Diapsalma.

65:5Come and see God’s works,

fearsome in His counsels concerning the sons of humankind,

65:6He who turns the sea into dry land;

through a river they will pass on foot.

There we will rejoice in Him,

65:7who rules the age by His power;

His eyes look upon the nations.

Let those provoking Him not exalt themselves within themselves. Diapsalma.

65:8Bless our God, nations,

and cause the sound of His praise to be heard,

65:9He who set my soul in life

and did not give my feet over to shaking.

65:10For You tested us, God;

You tried us by fire as silver is tried by fire.

65:11You brought us into the trap;

You placed afflictions upon our back.

65:12You made human beings mount our heads;

we passed through fire and water,

and You brought us out to refreshment.

65:13I will enter Your house with whole burnt offerings;

I will pay You my vows,

65:14which my lips declared

and my mouth spoke in my affliction.

65:15I will offer You marrow-rich whole burnt offerings,

with incense and rams;

I will prepare oxen with he-goats for You. Diapsalma.

65:16Come, hear, all who fear God,

and I will recount all that He did for my soul.

65:17I cried to Him with my mouth

and lifted up beneath my tongue:

65:18“If I was regarding injustice in my heart,

let the Lord not hear.”

65:19For this reason God heard me;

He attended to the sound of my petition.

65:20Blessed is God,

who did not turn away my prayer

or His mercy from me.
