The Last Days

3:1But know this: in the last days difficult seasons will come.

3:2For human beings will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, blasphemous, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy,

3:3without natural affection, irreconcilable, slanderers, without self-control, savage, not loving the good,

3:4traitors, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God,

3:5having a form of godliness but denying its power. Turn away from these also.

3:6For among these are those who slip into houses and take captive weak women, laden with sins, led by various desires,

3:7always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of truth.

3:8And just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so these too oppose the truth, people corrupted in mind, unapproved concerning the faith.

3:9But they will not advance further, for their folly will be evident to all, as that of those men also became.

Paul’s Example and Persecutions

3:10But you followed my teaching, conduct, purpose, faith, patience, love, endurance,

3:11persecutions, sufferings, such as happened to me in Antioch, in Iconium, in Lystra, what persecutions I endured; and out of all of them the Lord rescued me.

3:12And all who want to live godly lives in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.

3:13But evil people and impostors will advance toward the worse, deceiving and being deceived.

The Sacred Writings

3:14But you, remain in the things you learned and were assured of, knowing from whom you learned,

3:15and that from infancy you have known the sacred writings, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.

3:16All Scripture is inspired by God and beneficial for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness,

3:17so that the human being of God may be capable, fully equipped for every good work.
