Against Moab

2:1Thus says the Lord: “For three impieties of Moab, and for four, I will not turn away from him, because they burned the bones of Idumea’s king into lime.

2:2I will send fire upon Moab, and it will devour the foundations of her cities. Moab will die in weakness, with shouting and the sound of a trumpet.

2:3I will destroy the judge from her, and kill all her rulers with him,” says the Lord.

Against the Sons of Judah

2:4Thus says the Lord: “For three impieties of the sons of Judah, and for four, I will not turn away from him, because they rejected the Lord’s law and did not keep His ordinances. Their vain things, which they made, led them astray, those their fathers followed.

2:5I will send fire upon Judah, and it will devour Jerusalem’s foundations.”

Against Israel

2:6Thus says the Lord: “For three impieties of Israel, and for four, I will not turn away from him, because they sold a righteous person for silver and a poor person for sandals,

2:7which tread upon the earth’s dust. They struck the heads of the poor with their fists and turned aside the way of the humble; a son and his father went in to the same young slave woman, to profane the name of their God,

2:8and, tying their garments with cords, they made hangings next to the altar, and drank wine from extortions in their God’s house.

2:9But I removed the Amorite from before them, whose height was like a cedar and who was strong as an oak. I removed his fruit above and his roots below.

2:10I brought you up from Egypt’s land and led you around in the wilderness forty years, to inherit the Amorites’ land.

2:11I took some of your sons as prophets and some of your young men for consecration. Are these things not so, sons of Israel?” says the Lord.

2:12“But you gave the consecrated ones wine to drink and commanded the prophets, saying, ‘You must not prophesy!’

I Roll Beneath You as a Wagon

2:13Therefore look, I roll beneath you as a wagon full of straw rolls,

2:14and flight will perish from the runner, the mighty one will certainly not maintain his strength, and the fighter will certainly not save his life,

2:15and the archer will certainly not stand, the swift of foot will certainly not be saved, nor will the horseman save his life,

2:16and he will find his heart among powers; the naked one will pursue on that day,” says the Lord.
