The End Has Come upon the Land

7:1The Lord’s word came to me, saying,

7:2“And you, son of man, say, ‘Thus says the Lord to the land of Israel: An end has come; the end has come upon the four wings of the land.

7:3The end has come

7:4upon you, inhabitant of the land. The time has come; the day has drawn near, neither with tumult nor with birth pangs.

7:5Now soon I will pour My anger upon you and complete My wrath in you; I will judge you in your ways and bring all your abominations upon you.

7:6My eye will not spare, nor will I have mercy; I will bring your ways upon you, and your abominations will be in your midst. You will recognize that I am the Lord who strikes.

7:7Now the end is upon you. I Myself will send against you and exact retribution upon you in your ways; I will bring all your abominations upon you.

7:8My eye will not spare you, nor will I have mercy; I will bring your way upon you, and your abominations will be in your midst. You will recognize that I am the Lord.

7:9For thus says the Lord:

Behold, the Lord’s Day

7:10Behold, the end has come; behold, the Lord’s day! Even if the rod has blossomed, insolence has risen.

7:11It will shatter the support of a lawless person, neither with tumult nor with haste.

7:12The time has come; behold, the day! Let the buyer not rejoice, nor the seller lament;

7:13for the buyer certainly will no longer return to the seller, and a person will not prevail in the eye of his life.

7:14Sound the trumpet and judge everything.

War Outside, Famine and Death Inside

7:15War by the sword is outside, and famine and death inside. The one in the plain will die by the sword, while famine and death will consume those in the city.

7:16Their survivors will be saved and be on the mountains; I will kill them all, each in his injustices.

7:17All hands will weaken, and all thighs will be defiled with moisture,

7:18and they will gird on sackcloth; amazement will cover them, shame will be upon every face among them, and baldness upon every head.

Their Silver Thrown into the Streets

7:19Their silver will be thrown into the broad streets, and their gold will be disregarded. Their lives certainly will not be satisfied, nor their bellies filled, because it became torment for their injustices.

7:20They made choice ornaments a source of arrogance and made images of their abominations from them. Therefore I have given them over to them as uncleanness.

7:21I will hand them into foreigners’ hands to plunder them, and to the pestilent people of the earth as spoils; they will profane them.

7:22I will turn My face away from them, and they will defile My oversight; they will enter them unguarded and profane them,

7:23and they will make a confused mixture, because the land is full of peoples and the city full of lawlessness.

7:24I will turn back the arrogance of their strength, and their holy places will be defiled.

7:25Propitiation will come and will seek peace, and there will be none.

Prophet, Priest, and Ruler Fail

7:26Woe upon woe will come, and message upon message; a vision will be sought from a prophet, but law will perish from a priest and counsel from elders.

7:27A ruler will clothe himself in devastation, and the hands of the people of the land will be paralyzed. According to their ways I will deal with them, and by their judgments I will exact retribution upon them; they will know that I am the Lord.’”
